    This time the Photo Prompt by Sue has inspired me to write a short story. The story revolves around the unsung and the vastly unknown Indian heroes who fought in the World Wars. A staggering number of over one million of Indian troops served overseas during World War I, of whom 62,000 died and another 67,000 were wounded. In total at least 74,187 Indian soldiers died during the war. The India Gate at New Delhi was built to commemorate the Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting in World War I. Can you see it Uncle Sam?” chimed Jenny. “No. Where is it?” “There right there in front of you, hahahaha…look” she tugged at his face with her small hands, guiding it to a spot on the ceiling. She and Uncle Sam were lying on the dinning room floor engaged in their favourite pass time – tracing shapes and stories formed on the ceiling by the chandelier.

    via Daily Prompt: Catapult “Baba, are we there yet?” “Any time now Riya, wait” Driving down the long dusty road, Suraj was as impatient as his daughter to get a glimpse of his village. Many long years had passed since he had run down the winding path that led to his ancestral house. Back in the days almost all of his summers were spent here. He and his cousins had had an awesome time chasing butterflies, shepherding livestock and playing in the rivers.
