A Smokescreen

Hello Peeps!

I’m trying a new Photo Challenge today hosted by NEKNEERAJ. It was such an intriguing image…

Here’s what it has inspired in me. Hope you all like it.

A Smokescreen

Tears had dried up long ago

But the pain still coursed through

Snaking its way like a slow poison

Hurting with each breath that she drew

Welcoming the bottomless abyss

She often painted it grey

The poison cured her

Dulling her senses night and day

The void he left behind

Got filled with grey smoke

The deafening silence was bearable

When words mixed with fumes spoke

The vapours that blurred her senses

Engulfed her in an embrace

In the endless wait and anguish

A rolled up joint became her only solace….
