The Festival of Lights
“It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.” ~ Aristotle
That is the beauty of Diwali. When the days are shorter and the nights darker…we lit our homes with earthen lamps and celebrate the triumph of the light over the dark!

There are many reasons why Diwali is celebrated – Homecoming of Lord Rama after his 14 years of Vanavaas, Returning of the Pandavas from their exile, Birthday of Goddess Laxmi: the Goddess of wealth and prosperity, Enlightenment of Vardhaman Mahavir, Harvesting of the Kharif corps and so many more.
But each reason has a Focus of overcoming spiritual darkness with the inner light. Each celebrating the victory of knowledge over ignorance and of right over wrong!
This picture of a diya (earthen lamp) and Rangoli (designs made from coloured rice, flowers etc) was captured by me during last year’s Diwali celebrations.
